🕵️‍♂️ Privacy & Cookies

Yes! 👏❤️ Finally someone with a braincell who takes the time to read these pages!! Well - today’s your lucky break because I wrote all of this myself and tried to make it as clear and simple-to-understand as possible (be the change you want to see in the world & all that).

Consent and transparency is super important to me, so I’ve also bolded and underlined the extra important bits.

Hey uh… if you’re just here to steal the format of my privacy policy & cookies policy, that’s totally fine - but you’ve gotta promise me that you’ll steal like an artist. Deal? 😉

Do your own in depth research because legal requirements vary wildly depending on things like: which country your business is registered in, what type of business you are, and what countries your audience are visiting from (even if it’s just a personal website). If you use what I’ve put, you might run into legal issues! LPT: hire a legal consultant to check it over & give it the thumbs up… or honestly, just get them to do the whole thing for you, because OH BOY this was not a quick and easy task.

Anyway!

Here’s the info on what I do with your info~
👇

Overview

This page explains what data & personal information I collect through my website & services, how it’s collected, what it’s used for, who it’s shared with, how long it’s kept, how your information is protected, and what your rights to this information are.

There are still some sections that require more technical or legal language, so if you need me to explain it further then please contact me using the details in the last section of this page.

Personal information collected

👉 I do not sell your personal data 👈 or share it beyond how I’ve listed on this page.

The majority of personal information I collect is voluntarily provided to me directly by you, when you contact me directly or use one of my web forms (like to sign up for a newsletter).

When we have a chat, I may collect some of the following information in order to provide you with the best level of help, advice, or agreed-upon service that I can:

  • Preferred name and pronouns 🏳️‍🌈
This doesn’t have to be the same as your legal ones because, as a transgender man, I really do understand and respect the importance of your identity and privacy.

  • Email address

  • Phone number (for communication via WhatsApp or Telegram)

  • Discord (or other messaging platform) username

  • URLs of your website(s) and/or social profiles

My newsletter and email lists require a double-opt-in process (email confirmation) to join, and you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email. This will remove you from all of my email lists you’ve subscribed to. I may include an additional link for you to also unsubscribe from a specific list, and you can contact me through the details at the bottom of this page if you need me to do this manually.

Information you submit through sign-up forms are shared with my email marketing provider, Kit, who deliver the emails I write.

I also collect personal information indirectly through analytics and performance cookies used on my website, as outlined conveniently in this next section:

Cookies & analytics

This site is hosted on Squarespace, which uses cookies (small pieces of data that gets stored on your browser) to collect and analyse data in a de-personalised form. You can choose which non-essential cookies to enable via the cookie consent banner, and you can update your preferences at any time using the link in the footer of this website.

If you decline the non-essential cookies, then my site only uses the necessary and required cookies for the website to function.
The same goes for if you: ignore the banner, block it through an add-on or browser extension, or magically yeet it away using inspect mode & developer tools. We’ve all done it. 😂

I’ve tried to make my consent banner as unobtrusive as possible whilst still being accessible, because idk about you but I can’t stand it when I visit a site and there’s like, a banner covering 1/3 of the screen, and then half a second later there’s a big in-your-face-pop-up being all like “buy my bedddddd!”.

Necessary & required cookies

This is a list of the necessary cookies that my Squarespace site uses, what their purpose is, and how long they stay on your browser for. These are required for essential site functions, like:

  • Shopping cart & checkout

  • Member areas & courses

  • Blog post likes & comment functionality

  • Remembering your cookie preferences

Non-essential cookies

This list of performance & analytics cookies provides me with de-personalised data in the format of stats that I can monitor and compare through my website analytics dashboard. It helps me understand how visitors use my site, so I can improve content and usability. Enabling performance & analytics cookies helps me to make the best resources for you in a format that’s easy to find and explore, which helps me to reach more creative introverts in need of my help. ❤️

also number go up make brain happy 📊

You can also accept or decline advertising cookies, which allow third parties and ad networks to show you customized ads on other sites based on your interaction with my website.

Information collected may include:

  • Your browser, network, and device information

  • The web pages you visit whilst on this site, how long you spend on each page, your scrolling progress, searches made on this site, video timestamps, and what you click on

  • Your IP address

Data security

For all of the locations your data may be stored (described in the next section), I use these following security measures to keep your personal information safe:

  • Common sense, and pausing to question and fact-check things before acting

  • Staying informed about online and personal security

  • Reading the privacy policy and terms of service pages (and/or EULAs) before using or processing personal information with a site, service, tool, or software - including those of any separate third-party integrations, add-ons, or plugins (I’m great at parties)

  • Using a unique, secure email address

  • Using the strongest password that the service will allow me to set, managed by a secure password manager

  • Using (non-SMS) two factor authentication (2FA) for everything

  • Using physical and digital security measures on the devices I use to connect to the services

  • Routine password resets

  • Routine security checks for my account access and active sessions

I do everything I can to keep your personal information secure, but I cannot guarantee absolute security. By using my website, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to assume this risk.

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, I will contact you immediately and tell you: what happened, what data was accessed, how it was accessed and by whom (if known), and what actions I will take to prevent future breaches based on this information.

I do not use or process your personally identifiable information with AI tools or language learning models.

Links to other websites

My website includes links to other websites [surprised pikachu face]. Once you leave my website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this privacy policy or my website’s Terms of Use.

When you click on links on my website, they may direct you away from my site. I am not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites, and encourage you to read their privacy statements 😪 even if they aren’t as enjoyable to read as mine.

Affiliate Disclaimer

Some links on my website are affiliate links, and I inform you of this on each page or email correspondence that may contain them. I use clear language in the link text, and I don’t use link cloaking or any other deceitful shit to try and trick you into clicking. 😤

I take the time to thoroughly research and use the things I promote with affiliate marketing to make sure that they’re genuinely useful and beneficial to your interests, and I don’t promote anything I wouldn’t personally use myself, or that doesn’t align with my core values and beliefs.

Being an affiliate or sponsor doesn’t impact or add bias to my reviews or comparisons.

If I have negative opinions or experiences about part of something I’m reviewing or comparing, I’ll inform you without sugar-coating it so you can make an informed choice. If new information comes to my attention that contradicts an existing review, comparison, or promotion I’ve made, I will update it with a clear notification at the start of the content to explain any changes.

I may also additionally indicate near or next to affiliate links to inform you of: what they are, the benefits they provide you (which are at no extra cost to you), and to disclose the benefit or commission that I may receive. That’s how it works, right? 😀 You get some sweet deals (and may even feel some warm fuzzy feelings for supporting me as an individual creator), I get my own bonus paid by the business, and the business gets a new sale.

Please note: you will be required to prove your identity before discussing any complaint or request that involves your personal information. This is a security measure to ensure that personal data isn’t disclosed to someone who doesn’t have rights to receive it. I may also contact you to ask you for further information in relation to your request to speed things along.

I aim to respond to all legitimate requests within one month, but it may take longer if your request is particularly complex or if you’ve made a number of requests. In this case, I will notify you.
